Civil Dialogue Groups

Since August 2014 FACEnetwork holds one seat each in the two Civil Dialog groups (CDG) of European Commission (DG Agri):

  • Milk
  • Quality & Promotion

CDG have to fulfil a role of assistance to the Commission in a regular dialogue by bringing about an exchange of experiences and good practise, advising on policy and monitoring policy development.

Therefore the presence of FACEnetwork in the DCG will be very useful in order to represent our sector and to debate the drafts of regulations before they will be legislated.

What are Civil Dialogue groups in particular?

A body set up by the Commission or its departments to provide it with advice and expertise, comprising at least 6 public and/or private-sector members and meeting more than once.

Members of a CDG are appointed for a period of 7 years.

What is the role of a CDG?

To provide advice and expertise to the Commission and its departments in relation to:

  • the preparation of legislative proposals and policy initiatives (Commission’s right of initiative)
  • the preparation of delegated acts
  • the implementation of existing EU legislation, programmes and policies, including coordination and cooperation with member countries and stakeholders in that regard.

Expert groups are essentially a forum for discussions, providing high-level input from a wide range of sources and stakeholders in the form of opinions, recommendations and reports.
