A new quality brand for handcrafted cheeses!

As interest in local and artisanal food continues to grow, so too does the risk of diluted claims. To clarify what genuine craftsmanship means in practice, Sveriges Gårdsmejerister (SGM) has launched the concept “Authentic Swedish Cheese Crafts” (Äkta Svenskt Osthantverk).

The initiative defines authentic cheese craftsmanship as small-scale, truly artisanal production where people are involved at every stage — from raw material to finished product. Quality is secured through the cheesemaker’s knowledge, experience and sensory skills.

New graphic elements, available exclusively to SGM members, have been developed to support communication in the marketplace. The goal is to make it simple for members to clearly position themselves as Sweden’s genuine cheese artisans.
The concept was introduced at the Cheese Festival in Gothenburg, where it was featured at the association’s stand and by participating members.
Through shared messaging and visual identity, SGM aims to strengthen the visibility and credibility of authentic Swedish farm dairies in an increasingly competitive market.
